Destry McDonald was born in Midland, Texas; his parents became missionaries to the country of Russia in 1993. Destry grew up learning the language and culture of the Russian people. "It was a great time and season of my life that God has used to prepare me for the ministry." His family came off the field in 2001 but they continued to serve the Lord. In 2005, the McDonalds moved to Lakewood, WA. There he met his wife, Amber.

Soon after Destry attended Heartland Baptist Bible College; where he graduated from in 2009 with a B.A. in Pastoral and Biblical Studies, with a Youth Ministerial minor. In May of 2009, Destry and Amber moved to Carlsbad, NM. to join the staff of Landmark Baptist as the youth pastor.

Destry and Amber oversaw the growth and development of the youth department for over 7 years. "God blessed as we ministered to the students that attended the church. We saw many come to Christ and surrender their lives to serve the Lord. We are thankful for the time we had ministering to those young people." In November of 2016, the Church called Destry as the Senior Pastor, upon the retirement of Pastor McKinley. Pastor Destry has a passion for sound; biblical preaching that is relevant for the times we live in. He and his wife have a love for the community and want to see God change lives through the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. "I believe that God can and will continue to use Landmark Baptist as an instrument to make a difference in Carlsbad."

Destry and Amber have been married since December 22, 2007. They have five children, Trey, Olivia, Noah, Allie and Carson.
